1. Permitted use
- Researching UK businesses to offer them relevant business services (web design, SEO, marketing, software, bookkeeping, photography and similar).
- Contacting businesses through the channels they publish for business enquiries, one-to-one, with a clear identification of who you are and an easy way to say no.
- Exporting your own leads for use in your own CRM.
2. Prohibited use
- Consumer marketing or contacting individuals who are not acting as a business.
- Bulk / automated messaging — mass WhatsApp broadcasts, robocalls, SMS blasts, or e-mail without a working opt-out. WhatsApp's own terms forbid unsolicited bulk messaging and will get your number banned.
- Ignoring opt-outs or re-contacting anyone who has asked you to stop.
- Cold calling numbers registered with TPS / CTPS without prior consent.
- Debt collection, tracing, background checks, credit or insurance decisions, employment or tenancy screening.
- Harassment, threats, discrimination, or any communication that is misleading, defamatory or unlawful.
- Reselling, publishing or sharing the extracted data or database access with third parties, or building a competing dataset.
- Circumventing platform limits, creating multiple free accounts to avoid plan limits, or scraping the Service itself.
- Using the Service to target minors, political campaigning, or any high-risk processing that would require a DPIA you have not carried out.
3. Outreach rules (PECR summary)
- Companies / LLPs: may be e-mailed or messaged about relevant business services; include your identity, a valid address and an opt-out.
- Sole traders & partnerships: are treated as individuals under PECR — electronic marketing needs consent or a prior business relationship. Phone calls (not TPS-registered) and post remain possible.
- WhatsApp / SMS: same rules as e-mail; send individually, never as broadcast lists.
- Keep a record of consent, opt-outs and the legitimate-interest assessment for your campaigns.
4. Reporting misuse
Businesses who believe they are being contacted improperly, and customers who spot abuse, can e-mail support@gapscope.uk. We investigate every report and act within 5 working days.
5. Consequences
Warning, feature restriction, suspension or termination depending on severity — at our discretion. Serious breaches are terminated immediately without refund (see Refund Policy) and you remain liable under the indemnity in the Terms.
